I like New York in June, how bout you?

There is a lovely little Feinstein tune that asks, “I like New York in June, how bout you?”… Well, Lucas Glover likes it just fine, just fine indeed. Even when it was pouring rain down so hard that the 2009 U.S Open was delayed, soaked and submerged with the whirlwind Mother Nature was throwing at it, the champion-to-be was not the most exciting player, but yet the most consistent player, and he ultimately finished on top. He humbly took the silver trophy (and of course the $1.35 million) for his monumental effort.

The South Carolina native has always been more than meets the eye. A southern boy who adores New York and is a fully- fledged Yankees fan! Now Glover has a new reason to love New York, as he was crowned golf champion out on Long Island on Monday, the winner of the 109th U.S. Open Championship held at Bethpage Black.

When the championship started on Thursday Glover had entered it ranked 71st in the Official World Golf Ranking. On Monday, among his many other accomplishments, he exited the Open with a new rank: 18th.
